the official sign that summer has come to Brussels

No, it’s not the hot sunny weather we have had all week, or the sound of many people sitting in cafes chatting and not bothering to work any more.

It’s this notice I got in my inbox this morning:

STARTING THIS WEEK!
Friskis&Svettis outdoor sessions are recognised as one of the summer events of Brussels. It’s not just sport or exercise – it’s fun, it’s entertaining – and it’s about participating not spectating!
Yes, we’re back again in the Parc du Cinquantenaire/Jubelpark (see flyer), starting Tuesday 23 June, every Tuesday and Thursday at 19h30, through until 27 August (only exception is Tuesday 21.07.2009).
Get fit for summer with Sweden’s best kept secret! And bring all your friends – it’s FREE!

How excited am I! Friskis & Svettis is a Swedish company that translates as “healthy and sweaty” which I love. I only got to go to the summer park sessions twice last year before I went back to the UK for the summer, but it was a lot of fun. I mean, what’s not to love about doing aerobics in the park with 100 other people to loud music, and going home with dirt in your belly button? (Jodi, that one’s for you)

Also, some of you have already heard the quite shocking news that I have been running recently. I know. You never thought it would happen. Me neither, but I happen to know this handsome man who is rather good at persuading me to do those things I keep putting off so…
