The girl’s guide to web design

I just had to take a moment to shout my praise for the course I took last year that made the possibility of me coding my own website possible…

Girls Guide to Web Design

The Girl’s Guide to Web Design is an eight week course by Amanda from Better than Chocolate Web Design. The course provides you all the knowledge you need to create a unique and beautiful website using wordpress and thesis as a base. We talked about design and inspiration, about using ftp, html and css coding, creating unique buttons, headers and backgrounds… and a whole bunch more!

Each week there are new video tutorials posted to guide you through the next chapter, a weekly conference call with Amanda and the other “girls” (a lone guy too!) to answer all our questions, and a private facebook page where we could all hang out and celebrate our mini website achievements and offer advice.

It took me a while to make the decision to sign up for the course back in October. But after a lot of thought I decided to view this as an investment in my future and I am so glad I did. It has been a big boost of confidence for me to be able to take control of my website. And the experience of challenging myself to try something new inspires me to keep doing just that…

So if you’ve been thinking that you’d like to know more about website design, I recommend going and having a look at the course website. (Amanda is also offering two “tracks” now too – jetsetter or first class!)
